It uses controlled algae growth on an illuminated removable screen to help export nitrate, phosphate, and other nutrients from aquarium water while keeping algae growth contained in the sump instead of the display tank. Medium IceCap Pro In-Sump Scrubber Overview This medium Pro model gives larger systems more nutrient export capacity than the small version while keeping the same in-sump plug-and-play style. Water from the included EVO-1000 feed pump trickles over the screen, where algae grows under dual internal 24V LED lighting. As the algae mat develops, it absorbs nutrients from the aquarium system and can be harvested to physically remove those nutrients from the tank.
