It comes ready with everything needed for in-building applications with a pole-mountable antenna but an optional AH-40 magnetic-mount vehicle antenna is also available. Standard on the IC-SAT100M is a large multi-function 1500mW speaker/microphone that is purpose built for noisy environments. A left-side PTT button and knobs on top of the handset for controlling volume and Talk Group selection make the user experience similar to operating Land Mobile Radios. The IC-SAT100M is designed specifically for in-vehicle and in-building applications. Unlike other fixed mount satellite solutions, the IC-SAT100M does not require expensive coaxial cable runs to the external antenna unit; the IC-SAT100M connects to the antenna unit via standard ethernet cable. By comparison, the Iridium Extreme PTT can make "private" phone calls, but only after switching from push-to-talk mode to telephony mode.
