From the Castle Bromwich collection by Theodore Alexander, Ida's Side Table carries the quiet authority of a piece that has always belonged exactly where it stands. Mahogany and br ass meet in a composition that is at once grounded and refined — the warmth of the wood deepened by the cool luster of the metal, the whole resolved into a form that reads as both rustic in spirit and architectural in its restraint. At eighteen inches square and rising to a considered twenty-six inches, its proportions are precise without being fussy, occupying a room the way well-chosen objects do: with ease and without apology.
