In addition they can be placed under marble or granite slabs when tooling and stamping to minimise sound and for shock absorption. Made from5mm mineral tanned leather the Pad is ideal for small area cutting projects, and for using with thin leathers for stamping/embossing (de-emboss). The leather contains the equivalent of 5% of Cr 2O 3., the chrome salt found in green stropping paste. Depending on the steel type and edge design there is a good chance your tools won't blunt as quickly as with polypropylene, PVC or wood boards. You can leave an edge strip of your pad for stropping or take advantage of the saving and purchase 2 pads - one for punching and one for stropping. Controlling the depth of cut into the pad will preserve the tools working life. Tip:- to prolong the life and sharpness of your chisels and punches further push them into a beeswax block before use.
