Numerical optimization approaches aiming at finding energy-efficient train run curves have been studied in recent years. It is, however, substantially difficult to calculate the optimal run curve in acceptable computational time considering continuous control input, which is suitable for the Automatic Train Operation (ATO) system. To calculate energy-efficient run curve for trains under the ATO system with relatively low computational burden, a new method is proposed based on a surrogate optimization algorithm.
