Both have promoted energy conservation through the introduction of energy-saving equipment and monitoring/control technologies, as well as actively adopting renewable energy sources in pursuit of carbon neutrality. However, the environment surrounding water and wastewater services confront numerous issues including financial strain due to population decline, a decrease in staff numbers, aging facilities and the need for measures against large-scale disasters. Continuing conventional efforts alone makes it difficult to achieve the set goals. Meanwhile, technological innovations and the rapid spread of AI, ICT, IoT, sensing, drones, and 5G are dramatically transforming our lives, including the smartification of facilities and the introduction of remote work. This committee conducted literature and field surveys to investigate: National and local government initiatives, Past efforts for carbon neutrality in water and wastewater facilities, Current efforts in these facilities, Current efforts in other sectors. We examined the challenges and their solutions and made recommendations for carbon neutrality initiatives in water and wastewater facilities. The scope of the survey focused mainly on electrical equipment and monitoring/control systems, which are the main fields of this academic society, but also included a wide range of equipment and systems that can contribute to carbon neutrality.PDFファイルサイズ：10,725Kバイト
