A gravity-fed Blumat drip irrigation kit for up to 12 potted plants or a growing area of up to 3.5 square meters. It includes twelve 5-inch Tropf Blumat sensors, a 5-gallon reservoir with installed bulkhead fittings, and a water-level indicator. The gravity-fed system operates without electricity. Choose the right sensor size The included 5-inch sensors are intended for smaller potted plants, up to 10-gallon pots. For larger plants in pots of 10 gallons or more, we recommend 9-inch Maxi sensors to reach deeper into the soil. Contact us if you are choosing between sensor sizes. Reservoir and installation Perfect for landscapers and home gardeners. It is easily installed with a pair of scissors and connects directly to your reservoir. This kit includes twelve, 5” carrots and all the parts required for a gravity-fed system. Reservoirs should be at least 3' above ground-level. The reservoir is included, but you need a suitable location to elevate it. Review the water-source and indoor-use guidance below before installation. Water-source requirements PLEASE NOTE: This Tropf Blumat systems do not include a Pressure Reducer. You will need this if you are connecting your system to a threaded spigot, such as your hose/home water supply or the spigot on a rain barrel or reservoir. Indoor-use warning Note: Blumat Classics (Juniors) and bottle adapters are designed for houseplants while Tropf-Blumat Sensors (the one's with the small adjustable brown knob on top) are designed for greenhouses, growrooms, decks, and outside gardens. Blumats Austria says "Please don't use the Tropf-Blumats indoors" because if hooked up to a constant water source and a pet, guest, or user-error somehow causes a run-away, it could damage an indoor floor, drywall, carpet, or furniture. We, and many others, do in fact use these systems inside ourselves, however, we are generally around enough that if a problem did occur, we would be able to notice a problem and fix it in time (not the case if someone is on vacation). How it works As the soil dries, changes in pressure inside each Tropf Blumat sensor open its valve and allow water to flow from the supply line. When the soil is sufficiently moist, the valve closes. Each sensor responds to moisture where it is installed rather than following a fixed watering schedule. Each standard sensor covers an area approximately 12 inches in diameter. Additional supply hose, sensors and distributor drippers can be used to customize the layout.
