Igbo Star Power (2024) forms part of Chiizii’s ongoing NNI BU OGWU (Food Is Medicine) thesis and explores the who at the centre of the work, the people and culture it speaks to, Igbo people. Translated from an original collage into print form, the composition centres on the outline of a star formed from green foliage. Within the star sit ukwa (breadfruit) and uziza (West African pepper) leaves. Layered above is an image of Igbo girls dancing, while below appears a historical photograph of young Igbo people dancing together in the 1910s. The collage reflects Igbo star power and the depth of Igbo cultural richness.
