Carl Ludwig Hübsch and Ignaz Schick had known of each other for years before finally meeting in person a few years ago. They clicked straight away, sharing a sharp humour and a fearless approach to improvised, conceptual and composed music. In summer 2022, they recorded at Hübsch’s estate in Cologne, working only with extended voice and voltage-controlled sampler. The session pushes through abstracted song, concrete poetry, noise improvisation, sonic exploration and experimental radio play, with intensity, speed and plenty of wit. They met again in early 2024 at Morphine Raum in Berlin, this time adding tuba and turntable. Edited excerpts from that live two-set session make up this album. Hübsch is a renowned tuba player, improvisor and composer. Schick, based in Berlin, is a sound artist, composer and visual artist who also plays turntables, sampler, objects, electronics and alto/baritone saxophone.
