Iichiko Silhouette Mugi Shochu is a classic Japanese honkaku barley shochu from the renowned iichiko distillery in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, a region celebrated for its soft volcanic water and centuries-old shochu tradition. It’s distilled once from 100% barley, preserving delicate grain complexity, and bottled at 25% ABV, making it lighter and more approachable than many Western spirits. In the glass it’s clear and clean with soft, aromatic notes of lemon zest, lychee, white peach, floral hints and steamed grains, leading to a palate that’s smooth and gentle with subtle sweetness and bright, crisp character, balanced and food-friendly rather than aggressively bold. Iichiko Silhouette is traditionally enjoyed neat, on the rocks, with water (hot or cold), in a highball with soda or fruit juice, or even paired with tea (oolong or matcha), and its versatile profile also makes it a great base for light cocktails.
