In 2005, a biographical film about high school basketball coach Ken Carter was released called Coach Carter. In the film he takes on a team that is lacking in respect and disciplin e at first. A teammate quits in protest over his strict methods but later wants to get back on the team. Coach Carter lets him try to get back on with the condition that he finish a certain number of push-ups and suicides. When he falls short, the other team members work to complete them so that he can get back on the team.
