Cultivated along the fertile banks of the Uji River, where the nutrient-rich soil significantly contributes to the exceptional flavor, this tea garden's lineage dates back to the late Edo period, showcasing their extensive expertise in the art of tea. Both matchas are meticulously grown following traditional growing and harvesting methods such as Shizen-jitate (自然仕立て) which allows the tea plant to grow into their natural shape and Tezumi (手摘み) hand harvesting ensuring that only the youngest, freshest and healthiest buds are carefully selected. Each matcha is absolutely organic and free of toxic pesticides and chemicals. Growing tea utilizing such traditional methods is extremely time consuming and very challenging especially when adhering to strict organic practices.
