Rescued in the summer of 2016, 8-month-old Pare was not only found starving and very weak but was also infected with parasites. As parasites can be fatal for elephants, the poor ca lf required constant care. The SWT keepers were able to nurse him back to health as he slowly gained strength and confidence. Gentile and affectionate in nature, Pare was transferred to the Ithumba Reintegration Unit in 2018 where he will hopefully return to the wild as soon as he’s ready. Show more
