Made from a white clay body, this handthrown and sculpted bakhoor (incense) burner is inspired by the my family’s Eid gifts this year. The removable lid lets you easily place your coal and bakhoor inside, or swap in a tea light if you prefer. Each piece, except the Sudani hand painted one, is dip glazed by hand, meaning the glaze lands a little differently every time. Over time, tiny cracks will develop across the glaze surface as incense is burned in it. This is called crazing, and it’s not a flaw, just the glaze settling into the piece. The inside of the burner may stain naturally overtime with incense residue, but don't stress it, that's just your patina developing and a sign that the burner is becoming yours. ☺️ You may notice small marks from the trimming tool on the clay body, those are just kisses from the steel tools used to trim & proof it was made by a person. You can add a wave detail to the rim of your piece (except with the Sudani style), which is a special glaze application that creates a fluid, textured edge. Every glaze interacts with it differently, so the result is always a little unpredictable. I’ll share photos of tested combos, but if you’re feeling bold, you can order a combination I haven’t shown yet and see what the kiln gives you. Jade teal naturally has a bit of this in it, so adding a wave rim will only amplify the dripe-age as shown in the photos. If you need to wipe the burner down, use a damp towel. This clay is naturally absorbent, so please keep it away from excess water and always make sure it’s completely dry before use.
