They have 4 chunky short legs with a carved design on the outside edge running all the way around the circumference, and a metal straps and metal studs. These superb piece of history originated from India are 100 years old. These Chakki Grinding tables were a stable fixture in all homes in traditional Indian village life. Originally it would have been accompanied with 2 heavy grinding stones, one placed on top of the other. The top one having a basic handle to rotate round grinding the wheat into flour or Indian spices into powder. The table has a small door on the side to open, where the ground flour or spices would collect ready for cooking. As all our reclaimed, restored, re-loved treasures, this great Chakki table is a truly unique piece of furniture & shows a level of natural ageing indicative of the life it once lived. This may include some dumps & scratches, all adding to the character & charm of the Chakki coffee table.
