A 5-week immersive Indian cultural experience in Melbourne exploring chai, spices, cooking, stories, traditions & hands-on learning. Next series beginning Sunday 27 September 2026. GET SPICY 🌶️ A 5 Week Journey Into Indian Spices, Chai, Culture & Cooking What if you could learn about Indian food and spices from someone who didn't learn it from a cookbook? Welcome to Get Spicy, an intimate five week cultural experience at Chai Walli Studios in Kilsyth, Melbourne, exploring Indian spices, chai, food, language, customs, stories and traditions. This isn't your traditional cooking class. It's an immersive experience built around knowledge shared person to person. Stories passed down through generations. Customs that live in kitchens. Spice knowledge rooted in lived experience. As the granddaughter of an Ayurvedic doctor, Uppma Virdi grew up surrounded by a deep understanding of spices, food and their place in everyday Indian life. Get Spicy is an invitation into that world. We'll sit around the table, drink chai, talk, taste, cook, listen and learn. We'll share stories, explore traditions and get hands on with the food and spices itself. We also weave in breathwork into our weekly classes. It's an immersive cultural experience. 🌶️ FIVE WEEKS. This is knowledge that has travelled through generations. From grandparent to grandchild. From one generation to the next. We're creating space for some of those stories to be shared again. 🫶 AN INTIMATE EXPERIENCE There are just 4 places per cohort. That's intentional. We want this to feel like being welcomed into someone's kitchen, not sitting in a crowded cooking class. There is time to ask questions, taste, talk, share stories, make mistakes and learn the things you won't find in a recipe. Five weeks. Four people. Centuries of knowledge. 📍 Chai Walli Studios, Kilsyth, VictoriaApproximately 40 minutes from Melbourne CBD, at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges.
