Lightning over the Folly Beach Pier, running sideways rather than down.This is the kind that crawls. The discharge travels horizontally along the underside of the cloud, branching as it goes, and it lit the full width of the sky above the pier without ever reaching the ground. The pier lights were already on, and the wet sand in front is holding every one of them as a long vertical streak — white from the near lamps, orange from the ones further out.Indigo, white and orange.
