Indigo Trace is all about that incredible line of blue. Looking down from above, I was immediately drawn to the indigo and lavender tones winding their way through the softer pinks, ochres and earthy colours around them. It looks almost as though someone has taken a brush loaded with blue paint and dragged it across the landscape.Then there are the textures. Fine ripples, cracks, patches of colour and tiny marks spread across the surface, changing constantly as your eye moves through the image. This is exactly what excites me about aerial photography. From above, the familiar disappears and colour, shape and texture take over. Nature creates its own abstract compositions, and I simply get to find them. Indigo Trace is part of my Painted Earth series, exploring landscapes that, from the air, seem to have been painted rather than formed. Interior Design Suggestions Indigo Trace has a wonderfully soft palette, but the indigo-blue line gives it enough strength to hold a wall on its own.The combination of blue, lavender, blush, sand and muted ochre works particularly well with warm whites, pale timber, linen, natural stone and understated contemporary interiors. It could also be beautiful in a room where blue is already used as an accent, drawing that colour through the space without feeling overly coordinated. I would particularly like this one printed large. At a distance, the blue trace and broad areas of colour dominate; closer up, all those wonderful tiny textures in the landscape become visible.It would work beautifully on its own, but alongside Drift Line the two become a very natural pairing.
