Indolene is the product of chemical reaction and vacuum distillation of a combination of Hydroxycitronellal and Indole. When the process of making Indolene is haphazard you can end up with a poor quality product tainted with water (a byproduct of the chemical reaction). Generally we avoid water in perfumes (except in the case of colognes) and so the highest purity is needed. After much searching and testing we came to select this wonderful version produced by Berjé in the USA. It is of excellent clarity and a delightful scent somewhat akin to mothballs and orange flowers. Indolene is a wonderful material to build a luxurious Jasmine or Orange Blossom base and it can be used alone in a perfume to impart a gentler jasmine note than pure indole itself. Because of its thickness we offer Indolene both pure and as a 50% solution with DEP to make it pourable.
