Beppe Giacobbe, born in Milan in 1953, is an illustrator and longtime contributor to Corriere della Sera, trained at the Accademia di Brera and in New York. A teal room, in perfect perspective. And through it, a flood - or what looks like one: a still plane of water, chest-high, surface unbroken. A man floats within it, only head and glasses above the line; below, a hand drifts. On the floor: his shoes. Set down neatly, as if before entering. The stanze are always rooms of absorption - the body folding into thought, or sleep, or something else. In Stanza 55, the submersion is literal, and oddly calm. First shown in 2018 at Orizzonte Infinito in the Antica Tipografia Portoghese in Altamura, and again at Distrazioni (Bonvini 1909, 2024).
