Menthol is an organic compound that can be created synthetically or from mint and peppermint plants. We use the plant-derived form of this ingredient to add a refreshing flavour to our oral care products. Menthol is the main constituent of most mint oils and contributes to fortifying cooling mint flavours. Menthol can be produced through a variety of methods, including progressively chiling peppermint oil, which separates and crystallises the menthol. It is used in many topical and oral products as a fragrance or flavour, and for its natural anti-irritant and anaesthetic properties. Other names: C10H20O, p-Methan-3-ol, mentholum Chemical class: Alcohols REFERENCES Kamatou, G. P., Vermaak, I., Viljoen, A. M., & Lawrence, B. M. (2013).
