The painting now hangs in The GPO, a reminder of the brave ry and courage of those men and women who took up their positions on Easter Monday 24th April, 1916 in an effort for Ireland's Independence. At the height of the shelling James Connolly lies wounded, Pádraig Pearse and Tom Clarke can be seen marshaling their forces as they face impossible odds.
