I didn’t know it while I was making it, but many of the questions that would shape the series began here. In this work, the woman and the flamingo are of the same being. The flamingo has appeared throughout my work for years as an archetype and self-portrait. Here, two forms become one, anticipating a transformation I had not yet named. Walls photographed in Rome carry centuries of history. Pennsylvania ferns from my childhood meet flowers from my present garden. Memory, place, and transformation begin to gather into a single visual language. This was the last work I completed before moving into my new studio in summer 2026.
