The Intermatic FF12HC is a heavy-duty, 12-hour spring wound countdown timer designed for demanding commercial HVACR and electrical applications. This SPST (Single-Pole Single-Throw) mechanical switch is a direct replacement for standard single-gang wall switches, eliminating the need for a neutral wire or external power to operate the timing motor. Engineered for reliability in the field, it features teeter-type terminals for rapid up-front wiring and a 12-hour spiral time scale for precise interval selection. The unit is rated for multi-volt operation, handling up to 125/277 VAC and motor loads of 1 HP at 125V or 2 HP at 240V. Whether controlling ventilation fans, indoor lighting, or circulating pumps, this commercial-grade timer ensures energy efficiency by automatically breaking the circuit at the end of the timing cycle. The included brushed metal-look faceplate is built to withstand high-traffic environments while meeting strict NEC requirements for professional installations. Key Benefits Mechanical Reliability: Operates as a manual-on auto-off timer without requiring electricity for the timing mechanism. Versatile Compatibility: Rated for a wide range of loads including CFL, LED, incandescent, and inductive motors. Fast Installation: Fits standard 2.5-inch deep junction boxes and replaces decorator-style or toggle switches without field modifications. Robust Build: Includes a rugged dial plate and press-on knob designed to survive the rigors of commercial job sites. Broad Electrical Ratings: Supports 20A resistive loads at 125 VAC and 10A at 250/277 VAC for diverse HVACR controls. Common Questions Does this timer require a neutral wire? No, since it is a mechanical spring wound timer, it does not require a neutral wire or electricity to operate the clock motor. Can I use this to control a high-voltage heater? Yes, the Intermatic FF12HC is rated for up to 277 VAC and can handle resistive loads, making it suitable for many commercial heating applications. Is there a "hold" feature to keep the load on indefinitely? No, this specific model is the "Auto-Off" version without a hold feature. If you require a manual override to stay on, you would need the FF12HH model. Disclaimer: While we strive for 100% accuracy, product data and specifications are subject to change.
