The Intermatic T1871BR is a commercial-grade 24-hour mechanical time switch designed for heavy-duty applications requiring precise automated control. Operating at 120V AC 60Hz, this 40 Amp time switch features a 2NO/2NC contact configuration, providing the flexibility to be wired as a DPDT mechanical timer for simultaneous control of multiple circuits. Built for reliability in demanding environments, the unit is housed in a rugged NEMA 3R outdoor enclosure, making it a standard choice for HVACR contractors managing pump systems, ventilation, and outdoor lighting arrays. This "Skipper" series model distinguishes itself with an integrated skip-a-day function, allowing technicians to omit operations on specific days of the week when scheduling is not required. The independent clock motor ensures consistent timing independently of the load status, while the manual override lever permits quick system testing without disrupting the established 10-operation daily cycle. For the pro in the field, the Intermatic T1871BR offers the robust 40A per pole capacity and Type 3R rainproof protection necessary for high-demand outdoor installations. Key Benefits 40 Amp inductive rating per pole provides high-capacity switching for motors up to 2 HP at 120V. Integrated skip-a-day wheel allows for customized 7-day scheduling to reduce energy waste. Durable 2NO/2NC contacts support versatile wiring, including Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) setups. Raintight NEMA 3R steel case ensures components are protected from moisture and environmental debris. Comes equipped with one set of ON/OFF trippers and three skipper screws for immediate field deployment. Common Questions Can the Intermatic T1871BR be used for pool pump applications? Yes, provided the NEMA 3R enclosure is installed at least 5 feet from the water's edge, this timer is suitable for managing 120V pool equipment loads up to its rated 40A capacity. What is the minimum switching interval for this timer? The mechanical dial allows for a minimum ON/OFF time of one hour, with support for up to 10 operations per day using additional trippers. Is the clock motor wired separately from the terminals? The T1871BR features independent clock motor terminals, which allows the motor to be powered by a dedicated 120V source while the contacts switch a different voltage or circuit.
