This workshop is designed for those who have a basic understanding of mould making and want to learn how to create more complex, two-piece moulds for small objects (about the size of your hand). In this full-day session (9:30 am - 4:30 pm), you’ll learn advanced techniques for creating durable, solid rubber moulds. The focus will be on mastering the art of laying up clay to form the perfect two-part mould, and securing it with rubber and/or wooden plates. Course topics include: § A recap of the basic mould-making techniques (covered in the half-day course) § Detailed guidance on laying up clay for a two-piece mould § Techniques for preparing and securing mould halves with rubber and flat wooden plates § Best practices for mixing and pouring rubber § How to manage setting times and temperatures § Demoulding techniques and care for your finished mould If time allows, you will have the opportunity to pour a casting into your mould, giving you a chance to see your work come to life. By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a complete two-part mould, and the skills to tackle more advanced mould-making projects.
