Into the Night: Darkness and Light explores the many ways we think about death and how that informs how we live our lives. Across seven segments, the film shares the stories of fas cinating men and women from various walks of life - young and old, believers and unbelievers, dying and healthy - and grappling with similar questions about mortality. Among the interviewees: a longevity scientist pushing back against death; a transhumanist who believes humans can be designed to live indefinitely; a Native American physician with stage 4 cancer who finds strength in the rituals of her Comanche grandmother; an Orthodox Jewish director of ancient texts at Harvard forced by his cancer diagnosis to reconsider his own relationship with God; a well-known photographer who realizes that love, not art, will be his legacy; and two American Buddhist monks whose mission is to be fully present to the dying.
