This 1 day outdoor course focuses on movement and mountaineering skills in steep snow covered terrain. We cover the rest step, ice axe and crampon use, and self arrest to make your next trip safer and to build confidence in the mountains. We also cover basic rope work, anchors, and roped group climbing with a guide in steeper snow covered terrain. This course is designed to give students the skills to be more comfortable in our local mountains as well as bigger peaks in the Sierra Nevada and the Cascade volcanoes. This is the perfect course to take before tackling a larger guided mountain adventure. Equipment included in course: Pack, crampons, ice axe, harness, and helmet. Show more
