IPAF Dual 3a & 3b Operator Training This 1-day course provides combined IPAF Operator training for both the 3a (scissor lift) and 3b (boom lift) categories, delivered at Pulse Hire's dedicated IPAF training centre in Wakefield. On successful completion, you'll receive your IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) card covering both categories, recognised by employers and sites across the UK and internationally. Course Location This course runs at Pulse Hire's training centre: Unit 1 Benton Office Park, Bennett Ave, Horbury, Wakefield, WF4 5RA, conveniently located near the M1 and M62. Who Should Attend This course is suitable for new operators looking to gain their first scissor lift and boom lift qualifications, experienced operators seeking to refresh their skills or update their certification, and employers needing to ensure their staff meet health and safety compliance standards for powered access equipment. Course Content The course covers both IPAF categories in a single day: 3a (Scissor Lift / Mobile Vertical): pre-use inspections, safe operation techniques, hazard awareness, and emergency procedures. 3b (Boom Lift / Mobile Boom, including cherry pickers): thorough equipment checks, practical operation skills, and risk management for working at height on booms. Training combines classroom theory with hands-on practical sessions using real scissor lifts and boom lifts. Course Duration This is a 1-day course, starting at 8am at the Wakefield training centre. Assessment Candidates complete a theory test covering both categories, followed by practical operating assessments on a scissor lift and a boom lift. Certification Successful candidates receive the IPAF Powered Access Licence (PAL) card covering both the 3a and 3b categories. The PAL card is valid for 5 years.
