The course enables trainees to become competent to drive MEWPs safely and in the correct manner. An IPAF PAL card is recognised by HSE, CITB, HAE and the Major Contractors Group (M CG). It also satisfies the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the PUWER regulations 1998. Our IPAF Operator courses instruct how to prepare and safely use various types of access platforms, including scissor and boom lifts. You will be trained in the correct operation of the equipment, how to carry out a pre-inspection, emergency descent operations as well as being given an understanding of employers and employees responsibilities. Course content includes: MEWP categories Structural parts Regulations Pre-use inspection/ handovers Safe operating methods and hazards Theory test Practical training Practical assessment Course evaluation Delivered as a full day classroom course, theory is covered in the morning as an instructor-led classroom session and practical in the afternoon, where practical assessment on the MEWPs take place. Delegates must pass the theory test, in order to progress to the practical element.
