Ipanema, late afternoon in 2018. Will Salkeld catches a child suspended in soft Atlantic light, dramatic cloud cover above, the mountains soft in the distance. Contemporary colour photography, lifestyle in instinct, travel in framing. Soft light, mid-air, a child held in suspension. Will Salkeld is an Australian travel photographer, based in Sydney. He works in colour across coastal, lifestyle, architectural, and urban subjects, gathered on his travels through the Mediterranean, the Americas, Asia, and the Australian coastline. His pictures centre on coastal lifestyle and the way light, geometry, and a place's everyday rhythm hold together in a single frame. Across many different parts of the world, he has a particular eye for people in candid moments, the unguarded seconds that give a place its character. His work sits in the lineage of Slim Aarons, Steve McCurry, and Martin Parr: observational, composed, and lifted by colour. Will prints with High Society Gallery on archival grade paper.
