Hello lovely painting people, this week's tutorial is a return to the iris page. We are painting a beautiful iris variety called Contrasting Styles. I have enlarged it by half a size and set it close to the previous Siberian iris tutorial, to start a composition with you. This tutorial introduces my optional extra palette of purples, please don't feel obliged to buy all of the new colours. Maybe you have some purples that you can reintroduce from 'the drawer', or maybe just buy one new colour to add to your main palette. The most complicated part of this tutorial is the petal falls, where the veins travel through a bright, yellow flash of white and down into the deep fan of purples. In this film, I show you how I proceed through the colour changes adding the detail and finishing in tiny Tea washes. These flowers are a stunning study and even if you have never painted before you could try a little bit of it just to see how you get on. All the fun is here to be discovered. Join me. Peace flowers and gentle rainBilly x You can find the other parts of this tutorial by clicking the links below: Iris Siberica Iris Contrasting Styles Iris 'Philippa Hobart' Iris Leaves & Stems
