Iris cristata, or Crested Iris, has light blue to lavender miniature iris blooms held amongst handsome fans of short pale green strap-like leaves. Iris cristata is a fast grower an d spreader. Crested Iris makes a nice ground cover or edger for perennial shade borders and rock garden or woodland garden. Iris cristata is native to parts of the Southeast, eastern Midwest and mid-Atlantic states, where it may be found in peaty woodland soils.
