From Illinois south to Florida, you could be lucky enough to happen on a clump of the copper iris. Lucky if you are hiking through wet grasslands or near bog edges and don't find t he accompanying reptiles. We've saved you the trouble and excitement by propagating this wonderful native iris. The flowering stalks emerge from the narrow foliage and extend upward to 4-5' tall, topped in early May (NC) with 3" coppery orange flat-petalled flowers.
