This used Iris Guitars - DE-11 - Dan Erlewine Model is the fantastic result of a collaboration between the folks at Iris Guitars and musician, writer, luthier extraordinaire Dan Erlewine. Inspired by Dan's own 1937 Kalamazoo KG-11, the DE-11 takes that vintage build and adds a host of modern conveniences to this unique, small-body shape. First up is the built-in capo system. Threaded brass inserts have been neatly installed in the fingerboard allowing for one of three included capos to be installed. This system allows for a ton of flexibility when working with open tunings, and allows for the use of multiple capos at the same time for added versatility. Next up is the elongated neck which allows for added room when voicing chords near the nut, a specific request from Dan. The third upgrade are the Rickard banjo tuners. We've been fans of these high-end cycloidal tuners for years, installing them not only on banjos, but as replacements on vintage guitars that originally came with banjo tuners. They are elegant and have a very smooth tuning action. This ladder-braced model is light and resonate, and a very comfortable player thanks to the shorter scale length and smaller body size.
