Unusually for a variegated plant, it is also the easiest Iris laevigata variety to grow. One of the most popular marginal plants and so good it has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit (AGM). If designing a planting scheme, we recommend approximately 1 Iris laevigata 'Variegata' plant per square foot of ground or per linear foot of pond edge.
