The Ishinomaki Stool was specially designed through a series of furniture-making workshops involving local residents and primary school students, in collaboration with the U.S. fur niture company Herman Miller. The Ishinomaki Laboratory team identified a need for a step stool to access high storage and a shoe-changing seat near home entrances in temporary housing. Observing that residents often repurposed plastic beer cases for various uses, the team was inspired by their ingenuity to create the compact and lightweight Ishinomaki Stool. Show more
