Aset (ancient Egyptian name) / Isis (Greek name) is believed to be the most influential goddess due to the longevity of her worship, Isis’ belief spread throughout the Mediterranean world. She is one of the few neteru to be represented completely human, and usually with wings. She was the goddess of life, healing, magic, wisdom, women, children, fertility, and an expression of the Divine Feminine. Isis was the epitome of every positive feminine quality, an ideal mother and wife. She embodied the strengths of the feminine, the capacity to feel deeply about relationships, and the source of sustenance and protection. Her compassion and love have made her especially loved by women throughout time as she shows us that women are the source of nurturing having great reservoirs of compassion, strength, patience and unconditional love. As the protector of women, Isis helped women in childbirth and motherhood, blessing woman with children. As the goddess of wisdom, Isis also taught woman how to farm, read, weave and cook. As the goddess of life and magic, Isis was believed to have the ability to control the forces of nature and the elements. She used her magical power to resurrect her husband Osiris from the dead after he was killed by his brother Set and then conceive their son Horus. The imagery of Isis nursing Horus is believed to have influenced the later iconography of Mary with Christ. Isis shows us our ability to heal ourselves and to heal others by helping to awaken our innate healing abilities and intuition, our ability to communicate with the physical body and to understand our needs for healing. She empowers us to use the healing power of love and gratitude and to raise the energy level of the physical body by connecting to Source and our Divine Feminine.
