This sea monster map is a print of a re-engraving of Ortelius's famous Icelandic monster map believed to have been made by Jean Boisseau. Get the map alone or ready to hang with ou r beautiful floating framed canvas. This smaller map shows Iceland and its seas with all the monsters you can muster. Included in the map are mountains, glaciers, fjords, and a lovely illustration of Mount Hekla erupting. Other creatures more easily identifiable on the coastlines are Polar Bears playing among icebergs. This re-engraving lists over 200 place names, some of which were clearly misread from Ortelius' map and are incorrect, but these mistakes are what make old maps so interesting. Show more
