The indicator solution changes colour in response to the CO2 level and can be compared with the supplied reusable colour chart. Colour response is not immediate; allow sufficient time after changing the CO2 flow before making another adjustment. The airspace outlet must face downward while submerged. Replace the indicator solution approximately every two to four weeks or whenever the colour response becomes difficult to interpret. Ista CO2 Indicator Directions Remove the airspace cap and add approximately 1 cc of indicator solution to the reservoir. Reattach the cap securely, keep the airspace outlet facing downward and submerge the unit without allowing aquarium water to enter the solution chamber. Attach the indicator inside the aquarium and place the reusable colour chart on the outside glass near the suction cup. Compare the solution colour with the chart after the indicator has had time to respond to the aquarium's CO2 concentration.
