Ístex Lopi Plötulopi is a one-ply, unspun wool yarn made from 100% new Icelandic wool. Often described as pencil roving, this yarn is traditionally used for authentic Icelandic Lopi sweaters. Thanks to the long wool fibres, Plötulopi produces garments that are exceptionally light, airy, and surprisingly strong once knitted. Plötulopi is fragile in its raw form and should be handled gently. It is most commonly knitted using two or three strands held together, allowing knitters to control thickness and fabric density. The yarn can be wound together before knitting or worked directly from the plates. A single strand can also be reinforced by lightly twisting it or knitting it together with one strand of Einband. This unspun wool is suitable for sweaters, winter hats, beanies, and other warm garments. Plötulopi is also excellent for felting, hand spinning, and creative fibre projects. The yarn is certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, ensuring it is free from harmful substances. Hand washing is recommended.
