Alpha Box & Dice Italian Plastic Golden is a skin-contact “orange” wine from the experimental Italian Plastic project, a creative side range from Australian winemakers behind Alpha Box & Dice that embraces bold, textural, non-traditional styles. It’s made from a blend of Semillon, Muscat and Pinot Gris that are hand-picked in the cool morning, destemmed and fermented on skins for about 10 days before being gently pressed and aged in old barrels and stainless steel. In the glass it shows an amber-golden hue and delivers upfront aromatics with floral lift, tropical notes and vibrant citrus and stone-fruit characters like tangerine, apricot and peach, while the extended skin contact gives a textural richness and chewy, flavourful complexity. The finish is refreshingly dry and juicy, making it both interesting and easy-drinking, a fun, expressive orange-wine style with personality.
