This wheel-thrown rounded vessel features a series of hand-carved vertical slots that taper toward the foot, creating a rhythmic, lantern-like pattern around the form. The carving exposes the clay body and forms open windows through the piece, making it ideal as a sculptural object, for dry stems, or for soft ambient lighting rather than holding water. The surface is finished in a warm ochre-olive glaze with fine iron speckling. Along the carved recesses and rim, the glaze breaks to a rich rust-brown, emphasizing the depth and dimension of the cuts.
