Ivan Bunin – Cursed DaysBlending philosophical insight with eyewitness reportage, Cursed Days is Ivan Bunin’s powerful account of the Russian Revolution and its aftermath, as experienced in Moscow and Odessa between 1918 and 1920. Bunin, the first Russian writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, saw the revolution as a national disaster. His diary captures the chaos, violence, and cultural disintegration of the time with raw intensity and literary brilliance. Part confession, part chronicle, his reflections convey deep despair over the collapse of a world he once knew. First serialized in the émigré press (Vozrozhdenie, 1925–1927) and published in full in Berlin in 1935, Cursed Days was banned in the Soviet Union until 1988. Since then, it has gained major recognition and has been reprinted many times in Russia. A unique and haunting document, Cursed Days stands as one of the most compelling and unflinching literary responses to revolution and historical trauma.
