Genuine 1906 full-page halftone print entitled “The Day of Rest” from an issue of The Illustrated London News. The Artist, Frederic William Burton (1816–1900) was a prominent Irish painter and art expert who contributed illustrations to periodicals of the era. This particular artwork captures his signature high degree of finish and detail, influenced by Pre-Raphaelite circles and his extensive travels in Europe. Framed with antique solid oak with custom mount behind glass. 40cm x 34cm frame 25cm x 19cm artwork Frederic William Burton (1816–1900) Trained in Dublin, he was a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy and later became the Director of the National Gallery in London (1874–1894).
