Lock the jack pad in its working position for a more rigid connection during use. This 1/4 in. x 3 in. cross-pin passes through the jack pad tabs and inner shaft, locking the two components together. This removes the movement normally allowed by the pad bushing and helps keep the pad aligned while lifting. When the job is finished, remove the pin, fold the pad into its stored position, and reinstall the pin through the inner shaft for safekeeping.
