He followed the Rijksakademie van Beeldende kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts) Amsterdam. In 1946, he was awarded the Cohen Gosschalk Prize. Lived in Paris with his wife (sculptor Margot Hudig-Heldring) and two children. Later he worked in Huizen and passed away in Bussum. He made sculptures and paintings both abstract and more realistic work of animals (horses, insects a.o.), flowers and military.
