January Sun Forever is a mixed media work from the Back to God collection, executed in graphite with applied 23.75kt gold leaf on 22×30 inch archival paper. The central image - a circle of 5 swans - was drawn from life, referenced from a photograph that marked a moment of closeness before it passed. The swans, caught in an unbroken circle, are a meditation on friendship and betrayal - the closeness that once was, and the loss that followed. The circle of life. The gold leaf captures the sun and its reflection on the water. It is a work about beauty that holds grief, and grief that holds beauty. Presented in a custom-built walnut light box frame with embedded LED strips and museum-quality non-reflective glass.
