The idea for this print started on the night of Storm Goretti, in January this year… There had been numerous yellow warnings, then amber warnings, then snow and high wind warnings and I was all hunkered down at home waiting for it to arrive. I have two lovely 50 year old Silver Birches just six feet from my house and the thought always goes through my mind that this could be their last night. So I was watching through the window and it started to snow, the street lamp was impersonating an impressive moon, so I took a photo. I woke up to slush and no disasters in my bit of the world - hey ho - it looked pretty for a while. …this prompted a return to the print studio, drawing from the photo and this linocut emerged – all good!
