Formerly the premiere source of Jasmine, Grasse in France (the epicentre of the perfume industry) has now but one supplier left. Most of the treasured oil from the small French harvest goes to houses like Chanel and Dior who still use it (albeit in traces) in some of their hallowed scents. French Jasmine, despite being of the same type as Indian and Egyptian (Grandiflorum), is absolutely unique in its odour profile. It has a soft delicateness and full bodied naturalness that other jasmine oils, no matter how good, exhibit. This extraction from V. MANE Fils is so unctuous it seems like it is the result of an enfleurage extraction. When smelling the original classic fragrances of Roudnitska and Jean Carles it becomes very obvious that their luscious and rich style was inspired by this oil and its sister: Rose de Mai from Grasse which exhibits a similarly complex and yet demure quality. Pair this sublime Jasmine absolute with Orris Absolute Landes, French Violet Leaves and Rose De Mai from Grasse in our stunning restoration of the classical masterpiece 1000 by Jean Kerleo for Jean Patou (formula below).
